Correlation of Depression on Compliance with Treatment of Type II Diabetes Mellitus Patients in The Working Area of Puskesmas Pakuan Baru Jambi
Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that requires long-term treatment, making patient adherence to therapy critically important. Patients with diabetes mellitus undergoing long-term therapy are at risk of experiencing depression. This study aims to determine the correlation between the level of depression and medication adherence among diabetes mellitus patients in Puskesmas Pakuan Baru, Jambi. The research employed an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional prospective and samples were selected using purposive sampling. A total of 90 outpatients from Puskesmas Pakuan Baru in Jambi participated by completing MMAS and BDI II questionnaires. The results showed a significant correlation between depression and medication adherence in diabetes mellitus patients, with correlation coefficient of 0,000 (p<0,05), indicating statistical significance. These findings suggest that the lower the level of depression experienced by the patient, the higher the adherence to treatment among type II diabetes mellitus patients in the working area of Puskesmas Pakuan Baru, JambiDownloads
