Penerapan media simulasi dinamika atmosfer pada pokok bahasan pemanasan global di kelas 10 SMA Negeri 10 Kota Jambi

Global warming is a complex global environmental issue that requires a deep understanding; however, concepts related to atmospheric dynamics are often considered abstract and difficult for students to grasp. This study aims to: (1) evaluate the potential and feasibility of several online and offline simulation media on atmospheric dynamics, (2) implement them as learning media in classroom instruction, and (3) measure their impact on improving students’ interest and conceptual understanding among tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 10 Kota Jambi. The study employed a quasi-experimental approach with a pretest–posttest control group design. The sample consisted of two purposively selected classes: one as the experimental group (using simulation media) and the other as the control group (using conventional learning methods). Research instruments included a conceptual understanding test (pretest and posttest), a student response questionnaire, and an observation sheet on learning engagement. Data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and independent sample t-tests to determine differences in learning outcomes between groups. The evaluation of the simulation media used (Earth Nullschool, Windy, and PhET Greenhouse Effect) indicated that all three were feasible based on content, interactivity, and pedagogical relevance. The use of simulation media significantly enhanced students’ interest and understanding of global warming concepts compared to conventional methods. Students also responded positively to simulation-based learning due to its more visual and interactive presentation. The findings of this study are expected to provide practical contributions for physics teachers in designing more effective and contextual learning experiences through simulation-based media.
