Abstract

The purpose of the Community Service for the Application of Science and Technology (PPMPI) activities is to increase the knowledge and skills of the farming community of Jujun Village in processing the red ginger harvest into value-added processed products, especially instant red ginger powder, to increase the income of the farming community. The implementation is carried out through the Participatory Research Appraisal (PRA) approach. The preparation of the PPMPI program is aligned with the application of science and technology, leveraging the region's potential and excellence in ecological, physical, economic, and socio-cultural aspects of the community. The activity began with a discussion with the implementation team to determine the implementation details, followed by socialization with the village and PPMPI partners. Implementation of activities with a system of training, discussion, mentoring, practice, and application. The participation of the Puti Pinang Masak Farmers Group as a partner in PPMPI activities serves as both a subject and an object. Members of each partner play a role and participate in training, mentoring, discussion, practice, and application of technology. Members of the partner group participate directly in providing the venue and some of the necessary equipment for the activity. The results of PPMPI activities to transform the harvest of red ginger into instant powder with high economic value in Jujun Village can enhance the knowledge and skills of the farming community in processing the red ginger harvest into value-added products, particularly instant powdered red ginger, thereby increasing the income of the farming community.
