Abstract

ABSTRACT

Amphibians are one of the components of the ecosystem that have a very important role. Amphibians act as environmental bio-indicators because they have a high response to environmental changes. One of the amphibious habitats that are vulnerable to environmental changes is peat forests. Pematang Rahim Village Forest (HDPR) is one of the peat forests that serves as amphibian habitats. The condition and quality of the habitat certainly affect the diversity of amphibian species. This study aims to identify and analyze the level of diversity of amphibian species of the order Anura in the Peat Forest area of Pematang Rahim Village. The research method used in this study was VES (Visual Encounter Survey) on a 500-meter transect path in aquatic and terrestrial habitats, with the Capture Mark Recapture (CMR) technique for specimen identification. Diversity analysis was carried out using the Shannon-Wiener Index, Margalef Index, Evenness Index, and Community Similarity Index. The study recorded 88 individuals comprising 7 species belonging to 4 of the 6 anuran families in Indonesia: Bufonidae, Dicroglossidae, Ranidae, and Rhacophoridae. The amphibian diversity index in the HDPR was categorized as moderate, while the amphibian species richness index was low, and the evenness of amphibian species was high.
