Announcement of In-Press Publication Model and AI Policy

2025-08-17

Beginning with the forthcoming Vol. 9 No. 1 edition (December 2025; July-December 2025 period), the Indonesian Food Science and Technology Journal (IFSTJ) will use an In Press publication format to speed the dissemination of scientific knowledge.

Accepted papers will be published online as soon as they are ready, without waiting for the completion of the full issue. This guarantees that new research discoveries in the field of Food Science and Technology are made public and citable as soon as possible, increasing visibility and effect. The whole issue will continue to be released according to the regular publication schedule, while individual pieces will be available in their finalised form as published.

Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Scientific Writing Process

In the interest of maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, research ethics, and transparency, authors are required to disclose any use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) or AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of their manuscripts. If such tools have been employed, a clear and specific declaration must be included in the manuscript. The declaration should state the name of the tool/service used, the purpose for which it was employed, and an acknowledgment that the authors take full responsibility for the final content of the work. The recommended wording is as follows:

“During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) utilized [NAME OF TOOL/SERVICE] for the purpose of [SPECIFY: e.g., grammar checking, language editing, or data visualization]. The author(s) reviewed and revised the content thoroughly, and assume full responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the published article.”

Please note:

  • The use of AI or AI-assisted technologies is permitted only as a supporting tool (e.g., for language polishing or editorial assistance).
  • AI tools must not be credited as authors or co-authors, as they cannot take responsibility for the integrity of the work.
  • If no AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in the preparation of the manuscript, no declaration is required.

This policy aligns with best practices recommended by major publishing standards (e.g., COPE and  Elsevier), ensuring that the published work remains a product of scholarly rigor and human academic responsibility.
